I've never given up something for Lent before, but maybe this year will be a first.
While I was getting ready this morning, I was trying to go through the options of things I would be willing to give up. (Alex joked, "I'm going to give up playing with Obi, bahaha.")
Chocolate? Can't... just bought that bag of dark chocolate pomegranate bites from Costco.
Soda? Then all that Diet Coke w/Lime in my fridge would be wasted.
Meat? Also just bought a bunch of yummy chicken varieties from Costco.
Driving? If only.
iPhone? Just got it!
But I'm completely missing the point of Lent right? It's supposed to be a sacrifice, and right now I'm being downright selfish.
So (drum roll please...) I'm going to give up baked goods for Lent. That's right, you read that correctly. I could give up all those other things a lot easier than I could give up baked goods, so in an effort to understand the true spirit of Lent, self-denial, fasting from luxury, etc., I'll give up my biggest weakness.
Baked goods include, but are not limited to, the following:
Cake
Cupcakes
Brownies
Cheesecake
Pastries
Croissants
Pies (even if they are unbaked pies)
Cookies
Eclairs
Cream Puffs
Donuts
Cinnamon Rolls
Sweet Breads
yikes, good luck!! i couldn't do it. good for you!
